TRAVELING ARTWORKS EXIT/ENTRY AUTHORIZATION DEPARTMENT

Important: We recomend the procedures for the exit of works of art be carried out as far in advance as possible on the date of dispatch.

The department was created in 1976 in compliance with the law Nr. 17236 of the Ministry of Education, enforced to protect the national heritage. It is responsible for issuing permits for the exit from Chilean territory of any work of art considered original: painting, sculpture, drawing, engraving or other by Chilean and foreign artists.

The value for the exit permit for a work of art is CLP$ 5,000, semiannually indexed by the CPI (Consumer Prices Index). The application and issuing of the permit takes about three working days.

This Department also responds to requests for admission of Chilean artists own works, eligible for duty-free under Article 9, Nr. 2 of Law Nr. 19,128.
