With 400 photographs donated by the community accompanied by the testimonies of local inhabitants, the exhibition “Coquimbo Remembers. Stories and Images of our Memory”, traces the history of central-northern Chile’s Coquimbo Region in the words and through the experiences of the players.
The events and topics it covers include:
The exhibition is a product of the Memorias del Siglo XX (Memories of the Twentieth Century) program for social participation in the recovery of memory. In this case, the activities included more than 72 community meetings held over a period of ten years in public libraries and museums in towns around the Coquimbo Region such as Altovalsol, Andacollo, Combarbalá, Monte Patria, San Juan, Tongoy and Vicuña as well as the city of Coquimbo itself.
Presented by the National Cultural Heritage Service, the exhibition reflects the heritage of men and women of different ages whose voices are often absent from the great narratives of official history.
